About

I am a Sheffield-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, puppetry, performance, printmaking and stage design. I completed a Fine Art degree in Sculpture in 1988, and since then have continued to explore making through a wide range of materials, including recycled plastics, found objects and more recently textiles.
My early career developed through collaborative theatre, touring internationally with Hypnotheatre as a puppeteer, puppet maker, stage designer and choreographer. This experience established an ongoing interest in movement, narrative, and the relationship between object, body and space — concerns that continue to inform my visual art practice.
In recent years I have increasingly returned to sculpture as a central focus. My current work engages directly with the landscape of Derbyshire and the Peak District, where walking has become an integral part of the creative process. Encounters with trig points and the network of Peak District “Ethels” have inspired an ongoing project to create a sculptural response to each of the 95 Ethels. These works explore ideas of place and presence, using portable and site-responsive forms that connect making with physical experience of the landscape.
